As part of the trialogue negotiations for the Energy Tax Directive (ETD), AERRL has joined environmental NGO Transport and Environment (T&E), along with other environmental NGOs and clean industry players to call on the European authorities to support a tax on fossil jet and marine fuels.

The letter claims that tax exemptions on jet and marine fuels are not only a social injustice, but also a massive loss of revenue for the EU government to fund the decarbonisation of the transport sector and the deployment of the technology needed to enable modal shift to rail such as ERTMS.
